Jubilee party makes assurances to President William Ruto over Raila’s nationwide protests that kicked off on Wednesday.

Jubilee secretary general, Jeremiah Kioni, assured President William Ruto that the opposition will accord him the respect he deserves as the head of state.

He added that they wouldn’t adopt Ruto’s tactics, in which he openly criticized Uhuru Kenyatta, his former employer, and predecessor.

On Wednesday, December 7, Kioni declared on Inooro TV that the Azimio La Umoja Coalition’s planned nationwide protests will only be utilized to hold the administration accountable.

“We will not insult him (Ruto) as he did to Uhuru. We will give him respect as the President.

“If he calls us for talks, he will have to give a reason for his decision. However, we know he already ruled that out,” Kioni stated.

The Jubilee party secretary-general also poked holes in Ruto’s plan for Grade Six learners, demanding to know what would happen to the thousands of classrooms constructed across the country to accommodate learners.

He argued that parents were in limbo after the Basic Education principal secretary, Belio Kipsang, abolished boarding schools.

In addition, he questioned Ruto’s Hustler Fund project, wondering, “Where is the Ksh50 billion coming from to fund the Hustler Fund?

“Is it from the government or individuals? Yes 100 days is not enough to transform the economy but that is what they asked for and I must hold them accountable,” he added.

Kioni further accused Ruto of subduing the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) by coercing some of the commissioners to quit ahead of the retirement of Chairperson Wafula Chebukati in 2023.

However, he dismissed claims that the four IEBC commissioners led by the former Vice Chairperson Juliana Cherera were allied to Azimio.
