UK Embassy announces changes on visa application process

On Monday, the UK government announced that it had changed visa application processes for foreigners, including Kenyans, who had already applied for visas to visit the nations under her territory
On Monday, the UK government announced that it had changed visa application processes for foreigners, including Kenyans, who had already applied for visas to visit the nations under her territory.
According to the UK High Commissioner in Nairobi, the changes would also affect people who were planning to apply for a visa to travel to the UK from Kenya and other parts of the world.
The foreign government announced that it had changed the visa printing commercial partner from the current TLScontact to VFS Global.
”Between September 2024 and January 2025, the commercial partner will change from TLScontact to VFS Global in some locations in Africa, Europe, the Middle East, and Central Asia,’’ the UK High Commission shared.
The Embassy added that meant that visa applicants in Kenya would have to start their visa applications with one commercial partner and finish it with another commercial partner. The communication was to inform the applicants not to be worried should they notice a change in the process, because of the security considerations involved in the process.
The Embassy advised affected Kenyans that they will be able to get emails from both the former partner, TLScontact, and VFS Global.
It added that should such a scenario happen, applicants need to follow all the steps required by both emails to continue the application process.
”If your application is affected, you will get emails from TLScontact and VFS Global. Read all emails you receive from TLScontact and VFS Global. They may have actions you need to take to continue your application,’’ the Embassy advised.

It also advised applicants to make sure they check all their email folders so that they do not miss any important updates should they be flagged.
”Check your junk folders to make sure you have not missed anything. To confirm the email is genuine, check if the sender’s email address ends in either: @tlscontact.com @vfsglobal.com,’’ it added.
However, Kenyans who had already been assigned appointments for the visa interviews were advised to attend.
For those who wish to change their appointment dates, it cautioned them that they will have to pay for the mandatory user pay (MUP) fee again and ask for a refund from TLScontact for initially paid fees.
”Attend your appointment as normal. Check your email confirmation for the address of your appointment. If you change your appointment, you may need to pay the mandatory user pay (MUP) fee again. If this happens, ask TLScontact to refund your MUP fee,’’ it highlighted.
Meanwhile, the Embassy announced that the changes will not affect the duration on how long the application takes to effect, even as the new commercial partner is set to change the application venues from October 22 this year in Kenya.
