University of Nairobi 1st year student found dead inside campus; leaves suicide note

A first-year student at the University of Nairobi (UoN) Kabete Campus found dead outside his hostel

A first-year student at the University of Nairobi (UoN) Kabete Campus found dead outside his hostel.

According to reports was on Wednesday found dead and is suspected to have taken his own life.

Sources revealed that the first-year student had demonstrated unusual behavior before his demise including leaving his hostel early in the morning and often coming back late.

The student is also said to have visited Helb offices at the Anniversary Towers for the last two days before his demise.

Further, the source added that the first-year student had complained about experiencing financial challenges. 

The deceased was also anxious to see if he had been selected for the government scholarship program.

“He was studying Agricultural Education and Extension at UoN, Upper Kabete Campus.”

“He had some issues financial issues. The last two days, he went to the Anniversary Towers, he had issues with a government scholarship. He had not received the Higher Education Loans Board (HELB) funds,” the source, who sought anonymity, stated.

The deceased was found with Ksh5 in his pocket. He was also reportedly found with a note bidding goodbye to his friends and family.

The source further described the late student as an introvert who rarely opened up about his problems to his friends.

“He kept to himself most of the time,” the source explained.
