Jimi Wanjigi claims police trailing him with unmarked vehicles and jamming communication at His Muthaiga home.

Businessman Jimi Wanjigi has claimed that unmarked vehicles are surveilling him and his family.

In a statement dated Friday, September 13, Wanjigi revealed that the vehicles were outside his family home and were monitoring their movements.

The politician also shared photos of the vehicles which did not have any number plates.

One of the vehicles also had a cellular jammer which Wanjigi claimed was making it difficult for them to make phone calls to people outside their home.

“Why are unmarked vehicles outside my residence in Muthaiga for the last one week? This is harassment of me and my family, this surveillance is unprecedented.” read the statement in part.

Wanjigi has been at loggerheads with the authorities following a raid that was conducted at his Muthaiga home last month.

During the raid, police were unable to track the businessman at his mansion. However, he presented himself to the police for questioning days later.

Eventually, Wanjigi was arrested and later released. He also obtained court orders restraining the police from arresting him.

The businessman has been accused of funding the Gen Z protests that were witnessed in the country for the better part of June and July.

The protests started following the tabling of the Finance Bill 2023 which recommended new tax proposals.
