“Three individuals have been rescued and taken to Mama Lucy Hospital, thanks to a joint operation involving the Nairobi City County Fire Brigade, NMS Ambulance, Kenya Red Cross and Kenya Police,” the Kenya Red Cross stated.

The incident comes after Nairobi Governor Johnson Sakaja in June lifted a ban on excavation at construction sites within the county.

The ban was instituted by the county on April 19 as a precautionary measure to prevent tragedies during a period of heavy rainfall in the country.

Following the lifting of the ban, strict guidelines were put in place to ensure safety of the sites.
