The US government gives Kenya Ksh1.1 billion for a special project at the (KDF) Kenya Defence College.
According to a statement issued by the US Embassy in Nairobi on Wednesday, April 17, the funds will be utilized in the construction of the new buildings at the National Defence College.
The US pointed out that the funds are meant to strengthen the cooperation between the two countries.
Speaking at the groundbreaking event, Defence Cabinet Secretary Aden Duale stated that the first phase of development includes an administration block, a library, a state-of-the-art auditorium, and supporting facilities, aimed at fostering strategic leadership and promoting the war against terror network, peace and stability in the Horn of Africa and the Great Lakes Region.

“This endeavour highlights the strong bilateral relations between Kenya and the U.S. and underscores our commitment to fortifying strategic defence infrastructure,” he stated.
The National Defence College is mandated to conduct a pre-eminent course in national security and strategy.
It prepares selected senior defence officers and the equivalent senior civil servants of Kenya and their counterparts from allied countries for higher responsibilities in the direction and management of national security and the related areas of public administration.
The programme is tailored to analyse Kenya’s national interests and national security issues via a scholarly approach.
