James Orengo urges President Ruto to establish a conducive environment for peace talks to take place.

Governor James Orengo of Siaya has asked President William Ruto to provide a friendly atmosphere so that they can dialogue in peace.

Orengo said they cannot have conversations with the president whereas those surrounding him are spewing vitriol.

He was speaking at the Bondo Municipality launch on Wednesday at Jaramogi Oginga Odinga Park.

“Ruto, you must create an enabling environment for us to have sober and logical discussions about the issues that are confronting the nation. You must create that enabling environment,” Orengo said.

He questioned how the discussions will take place when leaders like Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua are around.

“If you have hyenas and jack-outs and wolves like Gachagua, how can you carry on discussions when you have those kinds of characters?” Orengo asked.

“You cannot have a discussion when the people around you are spewing hatred.”

His comments come after those close to the president including DP Gachagua and National Assembly Majority Leader Kimani Ichung’wah are against the idea of dialogue.

Kimani Ichung’wah on Wednesday, April 5, threatened to write to the International Criminal Court (ICC) over Azimio leader Raila Odinga’s political agenda.

Ichung’wah was dismissing the proposal by opposition chief Raila Odinga to have talks akin to the National Accord 2008.

He asserted that the ODM leader was using violence and disorder to blackmail the country and get access to the system of government.

DP Gachagua has already expressed his dissatisfaction on the said talks stating that he won’t participate there should be handshake with Raila.

“Even if there is a handshake, I as Rigathi Gachagua will not be there,” he said.
