Embu Governor Mbarire now says the most important thing is Ruto getting a second term in office.
Embu County Governor Cecily Mbarire has emphasized that President William Ruto must be re-elected in 2027.
Addressing a section of leaders during the Kenya Kwanza Parliamentary Group at State House on Tuesday, June 18, 2024, the United Democratic Alliance (UDA) chairperson reiterated her commitment to ensuring that Ruto is re-elected in the next general election.
She subsequently underscored that it was important that the president delivers his promises to the citizens to boost his election, thus warning a section of leaders in the camp against succession politics.
“2032 is very far, for me the most important is to make sure our team leader William Samoei Ruto gets a second term, that for me is the most important, and he can only get a second term when he delivers and get this country out of where it is right now. Once he gets his second term Ndindi Nyoro, Aaron Cheruiyot, Ichung’wah and of you who wants to climb up tupambane hio wakati,” she said.
Additionally, Governor Mbarire asserted that leaders in the Kenya Kwanza administration should tone down on politics and focus their energies on serving Kenyans as they promised during the campaign period, failure to which they will be sent packing by electorates in the next general election.
The county head further highlighted that leaders should centre their conversations on development instead of succession talks, reiterating her utmost commitment to serving the people of Embu.

“I want to beg us to stay focused, let’s not lose sight of our goal. We really promised Kenyans big things, but their expectations are very high, if we start losing focus now, I don’t know how we will face Kenyans in 2027. I personally want to stay focused on what we promised the people of Embu County.
“I believe each of you wants to stay focused on what you promised the people in your country, I beg of us, as the chair of UDA to stay focused on what we promised those hustlers because if we don’t deliver, the hustlers will send us out of power, they will send us with vengeance, so let’s talk about roads, electricity, education, health….guys lets tone down on the politics, it is not healthy. It is the wrong time,” Mbarire said.
The latest comes amid a brewing tiff between Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua and a section of senior UDA parliamentarians.
A war of words has escalated the squabbles between the DP and National Assembly Majority Leader Kimani Ichung’wah after Gachagua’s relentless push for the one-man, one-vote, one-shilling revenue-sharing formula.
