TSC transferring principals en masses within the Kisii region just after the release of KCSE results which raised the credibility of the exam results.

The Teachers Service Commission (TSC) has transferred numerous principals from the Kisii region days after concerns about the validity of KCSE results in the region.

According to reports, affected school heads were from county and extra-county schools from Kisii that posted impeccable results.

The commission noted that in explaining the transfers, it was made clear that they were part of a routine process intended to achieve a fair distribution and efficient use of resources.

The affected principals are from Cardinal Otunga Mosocho, St Paul’s Oginga DOK, St Paul’s Gekano, Moi Gesusu, Kereri Girls, Riambase Mixed, and Riokindo Boys.

For instance, Chrispinus Owino of Cardinal Otunga- who scored a mean of 10.26 at the 2022 Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education (KCSE) – was transferred to St Peter’s Mumias Boys High School, Kakamega County.

Owino was replaced by Albert Ombiro, who initially headed St Paul’s Gekano Boys.

However, the principals transferred said they were prepared to serve in their new schools and help improve academic performance.

They attributed their good results to the creation of conducive learning environments.

Boniface Masese, who took Igonga DOK Secondary school to new heights after scoring a mean of 10.24 in the 2022 KCSE examinations, was also transferred to Bishop Mugendi Nyakegogi High School.

While speaking to the press, Masese affirmed that he was up to the task to replicate the success at another school.

“Despite moving from a pure boys’ boarding school, I am confident that I will give my best to ensure there is an improved performance in the national exams.

“We will try our best to improve the scores of Nyakegogi,” Masese stated.

The mass transfer comes in the wake of allegations of exam irregularities, with the majority of people skeptical of the validity of the results from the region.

However, Ezekiel Machogu, the secretary of the education ministry,  rejected the accusations, saying that the ranking’s restriction prevented the public from seeing a thorough analysis of the results countrywide.
