You should thank God you're not the president, Ruto's CS tell Raila amid struggles in government

Ruto's CS in charge of transport has advised Raila Odinga to appreciate he's not president and incharge of running the government

Ruto’s CS in charge of transport has advised Raila Odinga to appreciate he’s not president and incharge of running the government.

On April 9, the Transport Cabinet Secretary (CS), Kipchumba Murkomen, disclosed President William Ruto’s difficulties in managing the government.

The CS was speaking to a group of bishops from Elgeyo Marakwet’s African Inland Church (AIC).

During the event, Murkomen further explained why former Prime Minister Raila Odinga should be thankful that he was not the president.

“I have seen that there is a national discourse about the country being broke.

“That is not true, the Ruto-led government has money but is using all of it to pay debts,” Murkomen appraised Kenyans of the country’s economic situation.

The CS revealed that the wanton borrowing had crippled the country limiting its recurrent expenditure.

“Some of the loans we are paying cannot be accounted for as there are no records on how the cash was used,” he added.

Murkomen further told Raila to be happy that he was not elected as president during the August 9, 2022, general election.

“Raila should be thankful that he is not the one heading this government as he would not have known how to clean the mess created by the previous administration.

“At least, with Ruto, he knows on how to hustle ways to get the country out of this economic hole,” he remarked.

The Transport Cabinet Secretaryargued that instead of Raila leading demonstrations, he should be thankful to God that he was not in charge.

Murkomen’s statement that the government is not broke was in line with what Deputy Rigathi Gachagua stated on Sunday, April 9.

“It is true we are having challenges in paying salaries and giving money to governors because the handshake government ruined this economy. They borrowed money left, right and centre.

“Because we are a responsible government, we have to pay this money,” the DP announced why there was a delay in releasing money to the counties.
