Ten Hag and Man Utd dressing room disappointed over Cristiano Ronaldo’s shock interview
Ten Hag and Man Utd dressing room disappointed over Cristiano Ronaldo’s shock interview with Piers Morgan in which he slammed his boss.
In a candid, explosive interview with Piers Morgan, Cristiano Ronaldo unleashed a vicious attack against his manager Erik ten Hag.
The Manchester United locker room and Erik ten Hag are reportedly furious by Cristiano Ronaldo’s criticism of the team.
In a startling tell-all interview with Piers Morgan, Ronaldo dropped the bomb that he feels “betrayed” by Man United and that he has turned into a “black sheep,” and he also confessed that he has no respect for Ten Hag.
A bit-part player at Man United this season, Ronaldo, 37, criticized the club’s development during Sir Alex Ferguson’s brilliant reign and suggested that senior figures at Old Trafford are working behind the scenes to get rid of him.
Sky Sports reports that Ten Hag and the Man United team were unaware of the incendiary comments until after their dramatic victory against Fulham.
They were informed that it would be published that evening as they boarded a flight from London to Manchester, and they were reportedly angry over the time and method of its publication.
The interview was released in conjunction with the Premier League breaking for the World Cup, with Ronaldo heading off to join his Portugal teammates.
Domestic football is now on the back burner with Ten Hag not due to speak to the press or make a decision at Man United until after the tournament in late December.
Ronaldo will likely leave United the following month in January as his interview appears to have burned bridges beyond repair at Old Trafford.
In the interview, published via The Sun, Ronaldo was particularly scathing of his boss Ten Hag, saying: “I don’t have respect for him because he doesn’t show respect for me.
“If you don’t have respect for me, I’m never gonna have respect for you. If you don’t have respect for me, I’m never gonna have respect for you.”
He also hit out at his fellow teammate and United legend Wayne Rooney, saying: “I don’t know why he criticizes me so badly. Probably because he finished his career and I’m still playing at a high level.
“I’m not going to say that I’m looking better than him. Which is true.”
Sir Alex Ferguson was briefly mentioned in Ronaldo’s outburst, with the forward saying: “He knows better than anybody that the club is not on the path they deserve to be.
“He knows. Everyone knows. The people who don’t see that… it’s because they don’t want to see; they are blind.”
