Uhuru boosts Raila's anti-government protests as they hold the first joint rally after the August general elections
Uhuru boosts Raila’s anti-government protests as they hold the first joint rally after the August general elections.
In their first-ever joint rally since the General Election on August 9, 2022, former President Uhuru Kenyatta reiterated his support for Raila Odinga, the party leader.
Uhuru reassured the locals that he was still alive and well in Azimio while delivering a speech at a roadside rally in Luanda, Vihiga County.
Additionally, he emphasized that he participates in all party activities and listens to Raila just like the other co-principals do.
“I have retired, but I am not tired. Some of us become more energetic after retirement. I am still an ardent supporter of Raila Odinga. If he tells me to go, we will go together,” Uhuru stated to the delight of the crowd.
“I supported him last time, and I will continue supporting him because I know he is honest and seeks to unite the country. And that is within my rights,” he added.
While applying pressure on the government, Uhuru said he would be happy to see the cost of living reduced and other issues handled
He also pledged to support Raila’s quest for the presidency if the former Prime Minister decided to launch his sixth stab – a recorded history in Kenya.
“I am not looking for any political seat, but I will be ready to support Raila when he seeks any elective seat.
“The divisive politics will not solve the drought facing Kenyans, that I can assure you,” he weighed in.

However, the former President steered clear of the recent uncertainty surrounding the withdrawal of his security detail and the tax evasion claims.
On his part, Odinga continued his onslaught against the government and called out the President William Ruto-led administration for failing to lower the cost of living as promised in the campaign period.
He also called out the Kenya Kwanza administration over intensified push for taxation despite the economic situation in the country.
Further, Odinga urged his supporters to turn a blind eye to the latest development where a section of leaders elected under Azimio la Umoja affiliate parties pledged allegiance to the government.
“I want you to be ready for the revolution, we are together in this. They (Kenya Kwanza) had no clue on how to revive the economy now the price of everything is rising, will they still blame it on Uhuru? he posed a question to his supporters.
