Azimio la Umoja-One Kenya Coalition writes to the national police to notify them of Monday’s mass demonstration in Nairobi.

The letter dated March 17, 2023, was addressed to the Officer Commanding Station, Central Police Station Nairobi.

“We notify you that on Monday, March 20, 2023, we will be holding a procession within the Nairobi metropolitan area,” the letter said.

“Kindly provide us with security for the same.”

The letter was signed by Wycliffe Oparanya, the chairman of Azimio Executive Council, who is also ODM deputy party leader.

Azimio has assured that the planned mass action against the Kenya Kwanza government will be peaceful.

Wiper leader Kalonzo Musyoka assured the public that their picketing will be conducted in accordance with the law.

Meanwhile, Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua has said police officers would be deployed in several sections of the CBD to allow Kenyans to go to work and open their businesses.

He said police will safeguard businesses and property across Nairobi.

“Kenyans should treat those protest calls with contempt and move on with their work as usual; security agencies will provide security to ensure that hardworking and peaceful Kenyans are not disturbed and distracted. 

On the other hand, police sources intimated that a number of various elite squads, such as the General Service Police Unit (GSU), will be deployed for the demos.
