Kalonzo says he’s ready to be the sixth president of Kenya as he declared he will be on the ballot in the 2027 general elections.
Wiper leader Kalonzo Musyoka has announced that he will run for president in the general elections of 2027.
With the backing of the other Azimio co-principals, Kalonzo expressed his confidence that he would prevail and become the sixth President.
He said that ODM leader Raila Odinga, who has endorsed him three times in a row, has suggested he would back his candidacy this time as the Alliance’s nominee.
“Raila has to support me this time round. During the 2022 polls, you told me to rally alone. Leaders came and told me to support Raila’s bid close to a week’s time to the ballot and I did exactly so and we are still together,” Kalonzo said.
Speaking during a fundraiser at Kyua Catholic church in Yatta, Machakos County on Saturday, Kalonzo said Raila had indicated that he would this time round through his support rally behind him for the Presidency.

“Our brother (Raila) spoke his mind and we are still walking together and we aren’t going back,” Kalonzo said.
Kalonzo said Wiper Democratic Alliance had launched a national membership recruitment exercise to strengthen the party in terms of numbers ahead of the next polls.
“There is a new spirit from Kyua today, you are the majority. County governments of Machakos, Makueni, and Kitui are of Wiper Democratic Movements complete with Governors and Speakers. You need to move with speed so that beginning of the New Year 2024 in God’s grace, you start registering Wiper members to ensure that all join the party,” Kalonzo told the Wiper politicians.
“The spirit of joining Wiper is the way I have seen here today. If you get to register members in Central Kenya, Rift Valley, Western, and Nyanza among other regions, we will make this a true movement for real change in this country. We are ready,” Kalonzo said.
