Former Defence CS Eugene Wamalwa reprimands MP Didmus Barasa at funeral for casting aspersions on other leaders.
The political differences between Kimilili MP Didmus Barasa and DAP-K party leader Euegen Wamalwa came into play when they attended a funeral in the constituency.
Barasa exploded on Eugene whom he accused of failing to champion the interests of Western Kenya despite his presence in government.
The lawmaker emphasized that during Eugene’s tenure as Cabinet Secretary (CS) on a number of dockets, the area did not gain.
Barasa pointed out that during his tenure as the CS for Legal and Justice Affairs, Eugene failed to cushion former deputy justice Nancy Barasa from sacking.
“He has been a CS for over 20 years. When in charge of legal affairs, he could not save Nancy Barasa after she was sacked for assaulting a female guard,” started Barasa.
Further, the vocal lawmaker claimed that water had remained a challenge in Western Kenya despite the former CS’s presence at the Water and Sanitation Ministry.

In his rebuttal, Eugene scolded Barasa for what he said was a lack of courtesy and decorum.
While considering himself as the MP’s political senior, the former Defence CS counselled Barasa to uphold integrity in his pronouncements in public.
“I am like Didmus Barasa’s political father. As much as I came to condole with the bereaved family, I would like to advise Barasa to be respectful,” said Eugene.
He went ahead to warn the lawmaker against casting aspersions on Trans Nzoia governor George Natembeya.
For a time, Barasa has sustained attacks on Natembeya accusing him of disrespecting National Assembly speaker Moses Wetang’ula.
