Azimio outlines its nine-point agenda in Raila’s first protest rally as it promises to march to the State House with sufurias.
Azimio leader Raila Odinga led his troops to the first protest rally held on Wednesday, December 7, at Kamukunji Grounds in Kibra.
The meeting was a declaration as the coalition outlined its nine-point agenda to the people of Kenya.
The Leader of the Minority in the National Assembly Opiyo Wandayi read out what he termed as ‘The Kamukunji Declaration’.
In the declaration, Opiyo outlined a nine-point agenda that the Azimio La Umoja brigade will push, in what appeared to be an anti-Ruto agenda.

Pressure on Ruto’s Regime
Azimio La Umoja resolved to put President William Ruto’s government under intense pressure to fulfill the promises that he made on his campaign trail.
Cost of Living
The Azimio coalition resolved to place President Ruto under immense pressure in order to force him to reduce the cost of basic comedies, beginning January 2023.
School Fee Subsidy
Raila and his team also resolved to force Kenya Kwanza to restore school fee subsidies that were established by former President Uhuru Kenyatta.
Cash Transfer
Azimio resolved to force President Ruto to restore the cash transfer program, commonly known as Pesa ya Wazee.
The Older Persons Cash Transfer Program (OPCT) was an empowerment initiative under the Department of Social Development.
This initiative was meant to serve the non-pensionable and aged Kenyans who are not formally employed but growing in age.
Order in the Ranks
The opposition wing agreed to ensure that President Ruto brings order within this government, especially the Cabinet.
The coalition faulted Ruto for allowing members of his cabinet to give roadside declarations, some of which are illegal.
“These Cabinet Secretaries have been making dangerous orders that are completely illegal,” Wandayi noted.
IEBC Commissioners
In its first protest rally, Azimio resolved to put President Ruto under immense pressure to ensure that the Rule of Law prevails in the reconstitution of the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC).
Civil Service Outlook
The coalition resolved to ensure that Ruto restructures his government to have a national outlook.
Azimio La Umoja claimed that the civil service was skewed and does not reflect the diversity of the country.
Kazi Mtaani
Azimio La Umoja resolved to mount pressure on Ruto to restore the defunct Kazi Mtaani Project.
The Kazi Mtaani Project was abolished by Ruto’s administration after an assessment report.
The People’s Dialogue
In the statement that was read by Wandayi, Azimio La Umoja resolved to continue with the people’s dialogue across the country.
The coalition also invited their supporters for another political rally at Jacaranda Grounds on December 12, 2022.
The coalition’s leadership used the moment to rally the country by painting a conciliatory picture of a more hopeful, peaceful, and prosperous future for all.
Meanwhile, Azimio MPs threatened to March to the State House with Sufurias over the rising cost of living.
TJ Kajwang, a Ruaraka member of parliament, announced on November 7 that supporters of Azimio will march with sufurias to State House to protest the high cost of living, which has caused the prices of necessities to soar.
Kajwang demanded that Raila Odinga permit them to proceed to the State House.
“We will ask Raila Odinga for permission to march to State House and search for food with our sufurias to find what to eat,” he declared.
His sentiments were echoed by Nairobi Senator Edwin Sifuna who remarked that they will indeed actualize their plan of marching to State House.
“By end of this month, if the prices of maize flour will not have dropped, we will all march to State House to camp and eat there. All Kenyans will march there to demand maize and money for electricity bills,” he revealed.
In what was declared as resistance against President William Ruto’s government, Azimio legislators asked the public not to repay the hustler fund that was launched by Ruto on Wednesday, December 30.
Kilifi Senator Stewart Madzayo decried the high prices of UNGA while urging the public to default on the payment of the hustler fund.
“I have heard that Kenyans are being urged to take the hustler fund, I am here to tell you to take the money and do not refund, that is your money, do not repay,” he remarked.
Raila Odinga has launched a resistance onslaught against President Ruto’s administration that is expected to run for 30 days before a final declaration is made.
