Tame your animal is on the loose; Gachagua ally tells President Ruto over Ichung'wah attacks on DP

MP Benjamin Gathiru, an ardent ally of Deputy President slams Kimani Ichung'wah over attacks on Gachagua

MP Benjamin Gathiru, an ardent ally of Deputy President slams Kimani Ichung’wah over attacks on Gachagua.

Embakasi Central Member of Parliament Benjamin Gathiru, an ardent ally of Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua, on Sunday, slammed the National Assembly Majority Leader Kimani Ichung’wah over his explosive remarks and behavior aimed at demeaning other leaders within the government.

The visibly angry MP asked the president to contain the majority leader who he claimed has been on the loose end going around the country while demeaning Rigathi Gachagua.

‘’I want to ask the President, it is you who appointed Kimani Ichung’wah as the majority leader and not us, you appointed him the leader of government business, the people and I need to understand whether the role included going around the country abusing the deputy president,’’ Gathiru questioned.

The MP, as a result, asked the President to tame Kimani Ichung’wah likening him to an animal on the loose that needed an immediate action of being tamed. He maintained that it was a shame for them as leaders to have Ichung’wah lead them while driving on a mission to abuse other leaders.

“I am even feeling ashamed as a leader standing before you with the fact that my leader of majority is at the center of childrens’ talk of how he knows how to abuse others, which government is this?” he questioned.

The lawmaker linked Ichungwa’s behavior to the woes that faced the former leadership of the nation under Uhuru Kenyatta, maintaining that it was from such that William Ruto got alienated by his former boss.

‘’The other government also started going this route when people started walking away from the government and even now, I am seeing that this is the trend that is going to follow soon,” Gathiru recounted.

He insisted that if the trend continues and should they be told to move, then they will just move without resistance, signaling a plot to likely walk away from the current political formation.

‘’We said scornful politics of lacking respect, deceit, abductions and intimidation must come to an end when we were campaigning,’’ Gathiru stated.

The lawmaker also, while targeting the Directorate of Criminal Investigations(DCI), stated that intimidation was still the order of the day, linking the recent case where Embakasi North Member of Parliament James Gakuya and him were interrogated by officers from the DCI.]

In the case, the two were grilled over their alleged involvement in the planning of the anti-government Gen Z protests that faced the country.

‘’Even as I stand here, my phone and that of Gakuya have never been returned, DCI are sitting on them and they are not using them, it was just a move to make us shiver,’’ he narrated.

Gathiru did not spare the new found political dalliance of President Ruto and the opposition that led to the birth of the broad-based government, asking the opposition to respect those they found in government. He asked them (opposition) not to have any thoughts of displacing those they found in government.

‘’It cannot be that we are bringing in the second wife so that we can chase our mother, that cannot happen, the second wife must respect the first wife.’’ he argued.

Majority Leader Kimani Ichung’wah has lately been criticizing those he views opposed to President Ruto’s political agenda, while not mincing his words at them.
