Jubilee Party clarifies on alliance with Ruto after nomination of Uhuru allies to Cabinet

Jubilee Party Secretary General Jeremiah Kioni has maintained that they are still in the opposition despite the appointment of former President Uhuru Kenyatta's allies to the cabinet

Jubilee Party Secretary General Jeremiah Kioni has maintained that they are still in the opposition despite the appointment of former President Uhuru Kenyatta’s allies to the cabinet.

Speaking to the media on Monday, December 30, Kioni maintained that the party would continue holding President Willam Ruto’s government to account.

He maintained that the party could not stand in the way of its members who wanted to join the government.

On the other hand, he added that the party would be even more vocal in criticizing oppressive government policies come 2025.

“Jubilee is in the opposition and we are where our party leader told William Ruto to stop abductions, improve the economy and cater for our children in education,” he stated.

“We want a better health cover and we want to see stalled projects finished.”

Allies of former President Uhuru Kenyatta who were appointed to Cabinet include Mutahi Kagwe (Agriculture) and Lee Kinyanjui (ICT).

Mutahi Kagwe served as the Health CS during Uhuru’s second term while Lee Kinyanjui served as the Governor for Nakuru and was among the lead campaigners for Raila Odinga in the 2022 polls.

Notably, the appointment of the two came after Ruto visited Uhuru at his Ichaweri home in Gatundu.
