Raila challenges Kenyans in New Year’s message

Raila Odinga has tasked Kenyans with the responsibility of deciding which way to go as a country in his New Year message
Raila Odinga has tasked Kenyans with the responsibility of deciding which way to go as a country in his New Year message.
The Former Prime Minister noted that the country is ushering in the New Year at a time when it will be experiencing some of the challenges that dogged the country in 2024.
While wishing Kenyans a happy New Year, he said it is incumbent upon Kenyans to decide which way they desire to go as a country.
“Many of the challenges of 2024 are crossing with us into 2025,” he said in a statement on X.
“It is going to be upon us, as Kenyans, to decide whether to carry on, divided, bitter and cursing into 2025,or to find a way of coming to the table, discussing our problems jointly and agreeing on a mutual solution that secures our country and provides a template for our beloved continent of Africa. The choice is entirely ours.”

At the same time, Raila said the year 2024 showcased the country’s determination to preserve its oneness as a people, no matter the magnitude of the challenges.
He acknowledged that the year was tough but said Kenyans demonstrated their ability to overcome the challenges that came with it.
“The year that has just ended has been tough and dramatic. But it has also showcased our capacity to withstand existential problems and pull back from the brink as a nation,” he said.
The message by the former Prime Minister comes even as his bid for African Union Commission chair is set to face the ultimate test in an election set to be held in February.
