The Teachers Service Commission (TSC) has announced teaching opportunities for Junior Secondary Schools (JSS).
The Teachers Service Commission has activated its online application portal and invited qualified primary school teachers who wish to be deployed to junior secondary schools to apply.
In a notice issued on Monday, January 13, TSC announced that it was targeting primary school teachers who want to transition to JSS.
To qualify for the opportunity, one must be a Primary School teacher employed by TSC.
Additionally, applicants are required to have attained various grades in their Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education (KCSE) examination.
“Requirement includes a minimum Mean C+ at KCSE and a minimum grade of C+ in each of the two teaching subjects or its equivalent,’ read the notice in part.

How to apply
Interested teachers who meet the set requirements were advised to submit their application to the commission through the online platform.- https://tsconline.tsc.go.ke/tsc-teacher/login.
“Only teachers serving under P&P in public primary schools who meet requisite qualifications are encouraged to apply,” TSC advised.
On the application platform, teachers will be required to provide their TSC numbers and ID numbers.
The deployment slots are limited to 6,000 vacancies as the TSC seeks to bridge a 72,422 teacher deficit in Junior schools across the country.
The massive teacher shortfall was partly addressed by the transition to Grade 9 of the pioneer cohort of the competency-based Curriculum this January.
The phased deployment comes as the commission finds itself under pressure to guarantee a smooth learning experience for learners and stop the escalation of teacher shortages in Junior schools.
