UDA MP advices President William Ruto on to avoid being heckled during Mt Kenya tour.
Gatanga Member of Parliament Edward Muriu has advised President William Ruto not to mention former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua during his scheduled tour in the Mt Kenya region.
In a statement on Thursday, March 20, Muriu said Mt Kenya residents are still bitter about Gachagua’s impeachment.
The Gatanga MP also cautioned President Ruto against mentioning his deal with ODM leader Raila Odinga, the Social Health Authority (SHA), the Affordable Housing Program, and the Hustler Fund.
“My advice, when you come do not mention any leader in particular Rigathi Gachagua. The pain of betrayal is still very raw and deep. Do not mention your deal with Raila and how happy you are with it.
“To the mountain people they voted for you to the man, you have discarded their leaders who supported you, removed them from the cabinet, and parliamentary committees, and replaced them with Raila people. To the mountain people, it’s a betrayal and it stinks to the high heaven. do not mention SHA, Affordable Housing, or Hustler Fund. It will attract booing as the people of the mountain take it as a lie,” said Muriu.

The UDA MP also advised Ruto not to mention anything to do with the abduction and killing of youths and abroad jobs for unemployed people.
Muriu further pointed out that no road has been constructed since the President last visited the Mt Kenya region.
“Your guest will not tell you that since you visited the mountain last year in August and September, not a single kilometer of road has been built and the mountain is angry for that lie. The machines that were assembled when you launched the Mau Mau roads followed you when you left the site,” Muriu added.
President Ruto is expected to tour the Mount Kenya region in the coming days for the first time since Gachagua’s ouster.
On Thursday, the President met MPs from the Mt Kenya region at State House Nairobi and discussed the progress they are making in coffee, tea, and dairy farming, infrastructure development, affordable housing, and fresh produce markets, among others.
