I will rally 1.4m maasai votes behind Ruto; Senator Ledama Ole Kina
Senator Ledama Ole Kina has announced his intention to rally at least 1.4 million Maasai votes in support of President William Ruto and former Prime Minister Raila Odinga.
Speaking during a church service in Narok attended by President Ruto on Sunday, the senator stated that if all Maasai voters were united, the community could easily deliver no fewer than 1.4 million votes for the two leaders.
He added that he sees a great opportunity for the Maasai community to unite behind the Ruto-Raila alliance as a pathway to securing better access to national resources.
According to him, a united political front would strengthen the community’s bargaining power and ensure that long-overdue development and resource allocation reach the Maasai region.
“I have seen a pathway where all Maasais should pass so that we get an equitable allocation of resources. If we stand here as the Maasai community across the country, our votes would not be less than 1.4 million,” he stated.
He further dismissed Wiper Party leader Kalonzo Musyoka’s claims of political strength based on uniting 1.4 million Kamba votes, asserting that the Maasai vote would effectively counterbalance it.

The senator hailed the two leaders for agreeing to work together following the formation of the broad-based government, saying their unity signals hope for inclusive development and national cohesion.
He also assured that the Maasai community would stand firmly with the President, adding that no Maasai would go against the government.
Senator Ledama condemned tribal politics, stating that they are unproductive and do little to advance the interests of ordinary citizens. He emphasized the need for unity and issue-based leadership over ethnic divisions.
He further called on the state to support the community by improving access to essential services such as roads and water, noting that these remain significant challenges for residents in Narok.
