I do not want your job nor am I interested; Mithika Linturi tells Ruto
Former Agriculture Cabinet Secretary Mithika Linturi has dismissed claims that he has been holding secret talks with President William Ruto.
During an interview on Weru TV on Sunday, April 20, Linturi faulted Ruto for allegedly lying about them having talks regarding a government appointment.
The former Agriculture CS appeared to suggest that he is no longer a friend of the head of state.
“That was wrong. He said I’m his friend, and we were in talks to finalise him giving me a state job. That is a lie,” Linturi said.
Linturi was agitated by what he termed a deliberate misrepresentation of facts by the president over their current political relationship.
The former CS disclosed that he last spoke with Ruto on December 10, 2024, while he had accompanied Meru bishops who had been invited to State House by the president.

“The last time we spoke was on 10th December. And I had not gone to look for a job. We had gone together with Meru bishops. That was the last time. So for him to come and tell people that we talk and we keep talking is a lie,” the former Agriculture CS stated.
The former Meru senator also announced that he was not interested in rejoining Ruto’s Kenya Kwanza administration.
He criticised the president for sacking him and not supporting him when he served as the Agriculture CS. Linturi insisted that he does not need the help of the president to secure a job.
“I also want to say unequivocally that I do not want his job. I am not interested. This is the first time I was in a situation where I was given a job and then fired. So now I can look for a job for myself. I don’t need him. I respect Meru people because they believe in me,” Linturi stated.
