Gachagua hosts Meru delegation led by Mithika Linturi at his Wamunyoro residence
Former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua on Thursday, April 24, hosted a delegation from Meru and Tharaka Nithi counties at his Wamunyoro residence.
The delegation was led by former Agriculture Cabinet Secretary Mithika Linturi and included former Igembe North MP Maoka Maore and ex-Tigania West MP David Kariithi.
In an update on social media following the meeting, Gachagua described the engagement as productive and inspiring.
He also noted that discussions revolved around the anticipated launch of a new political party and the strategic role the two counties will play in its foundation.
“In the fullness of time, our nation Kenya, belongs to us all; a people determined to bequeath our future generation a strong economy, a nation full of opportunities and progress unmatched,” he said.
Gachagua further noted that the meeting focused not only on party politics but also on pressing national issues raised by the delegation.
Among the concerns tabled were the state of governance, a deteriorating health and education system and allegations of coercion among others.

“I have heard what my brothers and sisters have said regarding respect for the rule of law, bad governance, poor health and education systems, brutality, coercion, insecurity, and loss of lives exacerbated by cattle rustling, poor business environment, among others. We must fix this nation,” he added.
The former DP also expressed his connection to the region, referring to Meru as the homeland of his late mother, stating, “To the great people of Meru, the land of my Late Mother, I love you. Our resolve for a better nation is unstoppable.”
The meeting came days after Linturi dismissed claims by President William Ruto that the two are in talks, accusing the Head of State of lying to the public.
Speaking on Sunday, April 20, Linturi stated that he has not had any communication with Ruto in months, adding that when they last talked, he was not seeking a job.
“The President lied to the people of Meru that he’s in talks with me. The last time I talked to him was in December last year, and I was not seeking any job,” he said.
