Uhuru-Ruto Avoid Eye Contact at National Prayer Breakfast; Kenyans React
Uhuru-Ruto Avoid Eye Contact at National Prayer Breakfast held on Thursday, May 26 at the Safari Park Hotel in Nairobi.
Both President Uhuru Kenyatta and his deputy William Samoei Ruto attended the National Prayer Breakfast.
However, despite being a prayer meeting, it’s the seating arrangement that was the talk in town.
President Uhuru Kenyatta shared the table with Chief Justice Martha Koome and Attorney General Paul Kihara.
DP Ruto was seated at some distance with the National Assembly Speaker Justin Muturi and Senate Speaker Ken Lusaka.
The seating arrangement was a stark contrast with the previous prayer meetings where both President Uhuru Kenyatta and his deputy would share a common table.
Also was also evident that Uhuru-Ruto avoided each other’s eye contact as seen in the live stream of the event.
Uhuru looked away when Ruto gazed at the place he was sitting and vice versa.

Uhuru-Ruto Avoid Eye Contact; reactions

@Diana Karema
“Pretenders are worse than murderers. What kind of prayers were these while people have bitterness and enmity.” Kongowea Mswahili said: “What is this nonsense for when leaders can’t see eye to eye and continue dividing the nation wider.”
@Wycliffe Nyandieka
“The kind of hypocrisy surrounding this event is wanting..these are the same politicians intending to look and sound holier today but cannot even look straight to each other’s eye, and again immediately they step out of that ground they will default back to burbs and insults. Such prayers cant go beyond Safari Park compound.”
@Constance Rapando
“So what were these prayers for? Praying to who? Why organise ” prayers” when you can’t uphold God’s values?”
@DonaldBKipkorir
The tragedy of our #NationalPrayerBreakfast is the hypocrisy & hollowness of the prayers. The Leaders ask for forgiveness but today afternoon in their political rallies, go to default settings: ABUSES & DISRESPECT.
@scherargei
The disdain of President kenyatta towards Dp @WilliamsRuto
is very shameful & divisive to the nation. he can’t share one table with Dp Ruto on a national prayer day ; Hypocrisy
@AlinurMohamed_
Even at the National Prayer Breakfast President Uhuru Kenyatta and Deputy President William Ruto can not share the same table. The two leaders should find time and explain to the nation what happened to their political love. #NationalPrayerBreakfast
