Why Ruto Missed goodbye ceremony at State House
Ruto missed goodbye ceremony held at the State House Nairobi on the 59th Madaraka Day celebrations.
President Uhuru Kenyatta hosted a brief ceremony at the State House before proceeding to Uhuru Gardens for the 59th Madaraka Day.
But in what could be a cold war between President Uhuru Kenyatta and his deputy, William Ruto, all the cabinet secretaries were present except Ruto.
Instead, the Ruto was left waiting, at Uhuru Gardens, as President Kenyatta danced away with the State House choir after meeting his entire Cabinet.
In the brief ceremony, the President together with First Lady Margaret Kenyatta danced to the tunes of patriotic songs belted by the State House choir.
The President also thanked his cabinet for walking the journey with him, saying he is confident they have laid a firm foundation for those who will come after.
“I want to thank you as we have worked well together. It has been a pleasure and honour to have you with us,” said Uhuru.
“I am confident we have laid a firm foundation for those who will come after and continue to build a big, brighter, and more prosperous Kenya from where we have left off,” he added.

Why Ruto Missed goodbye ceremony
In response to his absence, Emmanuel Talam, Ruto’s spokesman said that the DP was not invited to the State House.
“He wasn’t invited to the State House event,” Talam said.
Ruto fell out with the president in 2018 after a handshake with Raila Odinga and haven’t been reading from the same script since then.
