Double Manchester United transfer deal after secret phone call and meeting
Double Manchester United transfer deal after Erik ten Hag hold a secret phone call and meeting.
Manchester United manager is busy reshaping his first-team squad, hoping to bolster his ranks and sign two of his former players.
Erik ten Hag is growing increasingly optimistic about landing Frenkie de Jong and Antony at Old Trafford.
Double Manchester United transfer deal
De Jong has already spoken to Ten Hag about a possible transfer, with the United coach describing the role the player would play under him at Old Trafford.
United’s central midfield has to be strengthened ahead of many important departures this season.
De Jong has been regarded as the club’s primary prospect for the role, and the Dutchman is at the top of United’s summer transfer want list.
Ten Hag is also interested in reuniting with Antony, the 22-year-old who was Ajax’s top player last season.
Given his excellent friendship with Man United manager at the Amsterdam Arena, the Red Devils are in pole position to sign the Brazilian.
And Red Devils have received a boost in their pursuit of Antony, with his representatives traveling to Europe to discuss their client’s future.
A report in Goal Brasil indicates that £51 million (€60 million) could be enough to bring the Brazilian forward to Old Trafford.
According to the source, the player’s representatives flew to Europe ‘to expedite’ a deal to United, which might be ‘completed’ as a result of the trip.
Antony’s destiny is due to be decided in these ‘decisive days’ of discussions, according to the report.
It is reported how United and Ajax share strong relations at board room level and this would help smooth over any deal.
Ten Hag’s departure to the Amsterdam club last month to seal his early arrival at United being one such amicable agreement.
While the deal would represent a significant windfall for Ajax, Antony’s former club Sao Paulo would be entitled to 20 percent of any transfer fee alongside 2.7 percent of a development fee for the player. That would be in addition to the £12million (€15m) they received in the deal that took the forward to Ajax in 2020.
