Man City submit transfer bid (£50million) for 26-year-old, deal to be sealed
Man City submit transfer bid (£50million) for 26-year-old Kalvin Phillips, deal to be sealed after an agreement is reached.
Man City have submitted a bid for Leeds United star Kalvin Phillips, according to Football Insider.
After announcing Erling Haaland’s arrival on Monday, the Premier League champions have shifted their attention to wooing the central midfielder away from Elland Road.
Phillips remains Guardiola’s top target this summer window, according to a City source, and an offer has already been tabled for him.
Kalvin Phillips will command around £50million and will be out of contract in 2024.
Leeds face a major battle to hang on to the England international, 26, despite his strong links to the club.
Pep Guardiola is a “huge” admirer of Phillips, the source added, and has made it clear at City how much he wants him in his revamped team next season.
Manchester City are in the market for a midfielder who can replace Fernandinho, while Ilkay Gundogan is also out of contract next year.
They face competition for Phillips from multiple Premier League rivals, including Aston Villa, West Ham, Newcastle United, and Man United.
However, Guardiola’s side have one major advantage as they are able to offer Champions League football next season as well as the capability to win trophies.
