Liverpool is a great model to emulate, Todd Boehly praises Merseyside club
Liverpool is a great model to emulate, new Chelsea owner, Todd Boehly has praised the Red’s footballing model.
Chelsea’s new owner, Todd Boehly has heaped praise on Liverpool for their business and footballing model as he targets success at Stamford Bridge.
Jurgen Klopp’s strategy has been rewarded in recent years, with the Reds winning the Premier League, Champions League, Carabao Cup, and FA Cup.
Liverpool had success under sporting director Michael Edwards, and Boehly, like AS Monaco’s Paul Mitchell, could be aiming to adopt a similar role at Stamford Bridge.
Boehly mentioned Liverpool’s approach when asked what constitutes a successful model in football.
As quoted by Bloomberg, he said: “If you look at the models that are very successful, Liverpool is a great model. Liverpool generates a couple of hundred million more revenue than Chelsea and they generate earnings, so I think there is an opportunity to compete.”
Chelsea have made it plain that they want to work smartly and with a longer-term plan in mind than just this summer.
The new owners plan to make “bold additions” this summer, with Boehly expecting that his team will be able to compete with Manchester City and Liverpool from the start of their term at Stamford Bridge.
As they try to execute their system at the club, the owners are expected to hand over £200 million to the German head coach.
Chelsea appears to be in a better position to grab a target like Kounde, and are more likely to strike a deal with Barcelona for Ousmane Dembele.
