Ruto launches education blueprint, attacks Raila on his education qualification
Ruto launches education blueprint as he attacks Azimio presidential candidate Raila Odinga on his education qualifications.
Deputy President William Ruto has launched the Kenya Kwanza education blueprint, promising to tackle challenges facing the education system in Kenya.
His Education Charter contains a myriad of proposals aimed at overhauling the sector should he win the presidency.
The changes will run from early childhood development and education (ECDE) to universities.
Among the proposals is the establishment of a national education fund to mobilize grants, bursaries, and scholarships from private and public sponsors to cater for non-tuition costs.
On CBC, Kenya Kwanza appears to have retracted its earlier plans to scrap the system and revert to 8-4-4 and now promises further public engagements with a view to reviewing the curriculum.
“We’ve heard concerns from parents and teachers about CBC and as Kenya Kwanza, we want to have a robust conversation with the public so that we can have an education system where everyone is comfortable,” Ruto said.
Meanwhile, speaking during the event at Catholic University, on 23, June, Ruto continued his attacks on Raila over his education qualifications.
The Deputy President asked Raila Odinga to name some of his classmates or even lecturers to prove his academic qualifications.
On his part, Ruto said he had enough evidence to prove he went to school.
“I even have my former principal at Chiromo Raphael Munavo and my PhD supervisor Professor Nkanya,” Ruto said.
Ruto said nobody knows any of Raila’s classmates.
“We will deal with people who no one knows where they went to school or what courses they pursued,” he said.
He said if elected, he will deal with policy changes to deal with fake degrees and ensure all qualifications can be proved.
“Sorting our education the way we want it will remove the grey areas,” he said.
