Liverpool intensify Serge Gnabry pursuit

Liverpool intensify Serge Gnabry pursuit in a move likely to be viewed as a direct swap for Sadio Mane who has moved to Bayern.

According to reports, Liverpool have reportedly stepped up interest in Bayern Munich winger Serge Gnabry.

Jurgen Klopp has already made some significant signings to bolster his first-team squad.

Darwin Nunez is the most notable addition from Benfica at a cost of £86m.

Fabio Carvalho is also joining from Fulham ahead of next season.

Liverpool intensify Serge Gnabry pursuit

According to Sport, Liverpool have increased their efforts to try to secure the services of Gnabry.

The 26-year-old, who made 34 appearances in the Bundesliga, was an important player at the Allianz Arena last season, scoring 14 goals and five assists.

However, he only has one year left on his contract, and Mane’s move might limit his playing time in 2022–23.

Previously, it was asserted that Bayern and his agents were still in contract talks, but the report claims that Liverpool and his representatives have already held talks.

Given the recent discussions regarding Mane, there is supposedly a belief that a deal might finally be reached, and Bayern will not want to take the chance of losing a crucial player to a free transfer in a year.

Bayern sporting director Hasan Salihamidzic has recently commented on the situation, admitting that a resolution will have to be found if the player does not pen fresh terms.

Speaking to Sky Deutschland, he said: “We really want to keep him. I hope that he chooses Bayern. If a player doesn’t want to decide for the club, then we can find a solution that makes everyone happy.”

Since joining Bayern in July 2017, Gnabry has contributed 64 goals and 40 assists from his 171 appearances in all competitions
