Uhuru slams Ruto over his Kenya Kwanza manifesto and campaign promises with the DP Ruto firing back minutes later.
President Uhuru Kenyatta has castigated his deputy, William Ruto over his campaign promises.
Speaking at KICC on Saturday, July 2 during the Ushirika Day celebrations, Uhuru slammed Ruto for lamenting about the Jubilee government yet they have been part of it for almost 10 years.
President Uhuru Kenyatta castigated Ruto for making promises about the future instead of working for Kenyans while still in office.
“I am saddened that people are just talking yet they were given a job. Instead of doing that job, they are just yapping and making noise telling people they will do this and that, why didn’t they do that when they were there?” Uhuru posed.
“This agenda of making noise is disturbing, your head is just full of noise. (CS Peter) Munya has been there for three years and he has made the progress, they were there for 8 years and they did nothing,” Uhuru added.
Uhuru further hit out at Ruto for claiming Raila Odinga, was the reason for their fallout telling him to move on.
“Every time you are just looking back and lamenting this person took my wife. If he took your wife, go look for another one,” he added in Swahili amid loud laughs from the crowd.
Ruto fires back at Uhuru
However, Deputy President William Ruto fired back at his boss Uhuru Kenyatta just minutes after he told him off.
Speaking in Chuka town, in Tharaka Nithi County, Ruto told off the President saying he has not asked him for support adding that he is ready to face Raila head-on and defeat him on August 9.
He told the President to leave the battleground as he is not seeking the presidency.
“Please help me tell Uhuru Kenyatta to leave the battlefield for me and Raila. Or what do you think? Should he not leave the battle for Raila and me?”
“And I have not told Uhuru Kenyatta to support me, let him keep off. I am ready to defeat Raila very early in the morning.”
