Why Thomas Tuchel is against Cristiano Ronaldo joining Chelsea

Thomas Tuchel would definitely not want Manchester United forward Cristiano Ronaldo at Chelsea amid links to the club.

Cristiano Ronaldo’s future at Man United is in jeopardy after he asked to leave Old Trafford this transfer summer.

New Chelsea owner Todd Boehly is thought to be interested in a deal for Cristiano Ronaldo, having held talks with his representative, Jorge Mendes.

However, an official bid for the Portugal superstar could rely on Tuchel’s approval.

The Blues wants a striker now that Romelu Lukaku is on loan at Inter, but it seems like they are more interested in signing Raphinha from Leeds and Sterling from Manchester City.

Although it is clear that the German is a fan of Ronaldo, it is unclear how the Portuguese superstar would fit into Chelsea’s system.

Villa legend Gabby Agbonlahor says Ronaldo’s ‘ego’ is a cause of alarm for Tuchel.

According to him, Raphinha and Sterling make more sense for Tuchel than Ronaldo.

He told talkSPORT: “I think [Ronaldo] would definitely be a good fit – but I don’t see it happening.

“He would not want a big ego like Ronaldo coming in and wanting to play every game.

“He would rather go and get Raphinha and Sterling, players who aren’t bigger than the manager or the club.

“For me, Tuchel would definitely not want Ronaldo.

“But if it comes from above him and the owners want him, then maybe something could happen.”
