Arsenal offered Tielemans transfer boost as they resume Arthur Melo talks
Arsenal offered Youri Tielemans transfer boost by Brendan Rodger as they resume Arthur Melo talks.
Despite interest from Manchester United and Arsenal, Brendan Rodgers has confirmed that Leicester are still not close to reaching a new contract agreement with Youri Tielemans.
The 25-year-old could be released by the Foxes this summer for about £25 million with one year remaining on his contract.
Although it is believed that Tielemans is hesitant to commit his future to the team, Leicester wants him to sign a new contract.
Arsenal are reportedly leading the race for Youri Tielemans transfer this summer with Mikel Arteta is keen to add Tielemans to his ranks.
Asked for an update on Tielemans’ contract negotiations at Leicester, Rodgers said: “There’s no update at all. “He’s happy in his work and he’s happy at the club. But, naturally, with a year in his contract, he may feel he has to look at everything for him and his family. But I certainly know he’s committed while he is here.
“I’ll have a good chat with Youri next week to get privately what he’s thinking. But it won’t change, whether he’s leaving or staying for another five years, he’ll still be super committed.”
When questioned about whether Leicester would accept Tielemans running down his contract and leaving for free, Rodgers responded: “I’m not sure. For that to happen, that means there’s been no acceptable offer or there hasn’t been an offer. That’s the reality.

Meanwhile, Arsenal wants to sign Juventus’ Arthur Melo in the summer window, according to TuttoMercatoWeb.
The Gunners were keen on signing the 25-year-old in January and their interest was confirmed by his agent.
It’s said the talks between the Serie A side and the north London club have ‘resumed’, after negotiations in the winter market.
The report states the two parties don’t want to drag out negotiations, in order to avoid Arthur’s training alone. In this regard, TMW explains the ‘next few days can be important for the South American’s sale.
