Lawyer Ahmednasir Abdullahi takes on Interior CS Kithure Kindiki over his tweet on Saturday evening which seemed to be aimed at DP Gachagua.
Kindiki seemed to be indirectly castigating Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua, who has been constantly calling for the unity of Mount Kenya at the expense of the whole nation.
CS Kindiki observed that the politics of ethnic and regional seclusion was not fit for the country, referencing the events in 2007 when violence erupted from tribal grounds.
“The mobilisation and incitement of ethnic communities against each other is a barbaric, cruel and dangerous political misadventure that poses grave danger to our Country’s future.
Kenya’s ugly past experience with ethnically brewed violence should jolt all of us, whatever tongue we speak and whichever part of the Country we come from, to resist and to name and shame the propagators of ethnic hate and the “us” versus “them” narrative that nearly destroyed Kenya in December and January of 2007/08,” said Kindiki.
Reacting to Kindiki’s tweet, Ahmednasir termed it as a cheap shot.
The lawyer noted that Kenya was peaceful and that the tweet was only aimed at fear-mongering.
“Cheap shot Bwana CS! Historically very relevant. Currently irrelevant. CS knows Kenya is peaceful but is obviously taking a very cheap shot at DP Rigathi Gachagua (I had to check the timeline for this tweet. I thought it was a decade old just to realise it was yesterday’s),” said Ahmednasir.

For a time, the deputy president has been camping in the region preaching unity among its natives.
To underscore his seemingly excessive preoccupation with Mt Kenya, Gachagua called for a revenue-sharing formula commensurate with the region’s population.
However, even as he camped in his backyard, a host of leaders, both in the ruling coalition and the opposition, came out to castigate his style of politics, accusing him of advancing ethnicity despite being in the presidency, which is a symbol of national unity.
Speaking during the Madaraka Day celebrations in Bungoma, President William Ruto also detested such politics, saying they were outdated.
“Going into the future, I want to promise the people of Kenya, that we will not let down. We will never go back to the politics of ethnicity, personalities, and people not being at the centre. I want to assure you that we will work hard to make sure that our politics is focused on the agenda of developing Kenya and dealing with the challenge of corruption, wasteful spending, and unnecessary use of public resources,” said the president.
