Police in Thika have arrested a 25-year-old student from Tom Mboya University in connection with the murder of his girlfriend, 19-year-old Faith Musembi.

David Kioko was apprehended after preliminary investigations suggested that he killed Faith over alleged infidelity.

Both the suspect and the victim hail from Machakos County.

Reports indicated that detectives apprehended a 25-year-old university student, who is being treated as the main suspect.

This is after preliminary investigations revealed that the two shared a close connection and had an intimate relationship.

According to the police, the main suspect, the boyfriend ostensibly murdered Musembi over alleged infidelity.

Thika Police boss Lawrence Muchangi confirmed the arrest, stating that the suspect is currently being held for interrogation.

The slain first-year student at Mt. Kenya University was eight months pregnant at the time of her death and her lifeless body was discovered last week by her father in her rented room in Pilot Estate, Thika.

At the time of the victim’s death, police discovered that her placenta was completely detached, causing excessive bleeding.

The detectives are yet to establish whether the suspect had reasons to question if he was the father of the unborn baby.
