Cabinet Meeting Was Trap To Embarrass Ruto, Mudavadi

Cabinet Meeting Was Trap To Embarrass Deputy President William Ruto, Musalia Mudavadi Now Claims.

ANC leader Musalia Mudavadi had now claimed the cabinet meeting was trap to humiliate Ruto.

He alleges that President Uhuru Kenyatta had planned to embarrass his deputy if he failed to attend a Cabinet meeting held on Thursday, May 12.

The Amani National Congress (ANC) party leader claimed during a meeting in Karen on May 12 that the Deputy President was aware of the plan and decided to attend the meeting for the first time in almost two years.

He explained that if the DP had not attended the Thursday decision-making meeting, Uhuru and his staff would have painted him in a negative light.

“Ruto is clever and he knows that even after they convene a cabinet meeting after a year, he will still know how to carry himself at the meeting so that he is not involved in other people’s businesses.

“This was a trap for him. They were planning to say that he failed to attend the cabinet meeting they had convened but he did the opposite,” he stated.

In addition, Mudavadi said the meeting was inconsequential as the President had contravened the law by making decisions without involving his ministers.

“They were shocked when we said that they were blaming the DP yet they had not had a cabinet meeting. That is the reason he convened that meeting so as to do damage control.

“The truth is that there are a lot of things that have been done without the cabinet and the law being followed. All we know is that Uhuru is in his last months and there is nothing that he can do to change what he has not done,” added Mudavadi.

The Thursday cabinet meeting was the first for Uhuru to call for over a year.

Ruto on May 1 accused the President of failing to convene a Cabinet meeting for the past one or so.

This came after the President during Labour Day Celebrations at Nyayo stadium accused the DP of absconding.

He called on him to resign to give room for him to appoint someone else.
