Police arrest couple after they reported the death of their six-year-old daughter in their house in Dandora, Nairobi.

According to report by the couple, the daughter had succumbed to chest complications and wanted help to move the body to the mortuary on Tuesday, December 12 evening.

However, police said they suspect the girl was murdered after visting couple’s home.

Nairobi police boss Adamson Bungei said they suspect the girl was strangled to death after they found marks on her neck and back.

He said a plastic wire suspected to be a murder weapon was recovered at the scene and kept as an exhibit.

“We are investigating a murder in this case even though we are yet to establish the motive behind this if any,” he said.

The scene was processed and the body was moved to the mortuary pending autopsy.

Bungei said the police will ask the court to allow them to detain the couple as investigations continue.

He said he wanted to understand what transpired to lead to the death of the girl.

In other news, police in Naivasha are investigating the murder of a man following a fight.

According to witnesses the two men were seen quarreling with one holding a knife.

Minutes later, one of them was found lying on the ground bleeding profusely with the knife stuck on the left side of the neck.
