Upper Eastern DCI boss confirms raid at Meru Governor Kawira Mwangaza over the murder of blogger Daniel Muthiani alias sniper.

Speaking to the media during the operation, Upper Eastern Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) Coordinator Lenny Kisaka indicated that police investigations were at an advanced stage as police piece together what happened to the blogger before meeting his untimely death.

The DCI chief stated that the operation also included officers from the agency’s homicide department at its Nairobi headquarters.

According to Kisaka, the purpose of the Saturday operation was to search the house for any leads that could help the police with their inquiries.

“We are conducting an investigation into the murder of sniper. We have been to several scenes. We have brought on board a forensic team led by the Director of homicide from the DCI headquarters.

“The house of the governor is one of the many places we are visiting in the process of collecting what is relevant to the matter we are investigating,” he stated.

In addition, the DCI boss assured that the police were only focused on the facts of the case calling on the public to remain calm as they complete their investigations.

“We want to tell the public that the investigations are at a very advanced stage and in case there is anything, we will rely on the media to convey the message to the public.

“Investigations are very focused on the evidence that will lead us to the court of law,” the DCI boss added.

According to Kisaka, the governor’s home is among the many places they have visited for investigations.

The statement comes after DCI detectives cordoned Kawira Mwangaza’s official residence in Milimani Estate, Meru town.

The detectives arrived at Mwangaza’s residence at 1:00 pm in Landrovers, Double cabins, and Subarus.

They sealed off the entire area with officers from the forensics team conducting examinations around the area.
