Details emerge of a British man killed by Ruto’s presidential motorcade

According to the BBC, the deceased was a 79-year-old who was a regular visitor to Kenya. At the time of his death, he had travelled to the country to visit his sister and nephew, who reside in Kenya.

Police Spokesperson Michael Muchiri, speaking to the publication, confirmed that the driver of the vehicle in Ruto’s convoy that knocked down the man had already been apprehended and would be arraigned in court soon.

Muchiri further disclosed that the deceased’s family had been informed of their kin’s death and that a post-mortem examination would likely be conducted on Friday, March 14.

Reports further reveal that the elderly man’s body was transferred from the Nairobi City Mortuary and is currently under preservation at Lee Funeral Home.

The identity of the victim was confirmed by the United Kingdom High Commission in Kenya, which stated that it was aware of the man’s death and was still seeking more details surrounding the incident.

The latest development comes hours after the police service called on Kenyans with information that may assist with investigations into the death of the foreigner to report to the nearest police station.

In a press statement released on Thursday, March 13, the National Police Service (NPS) stated that the foreigner was knocked down by a government vehicle at the Adams Arcade area along Ngong Road.

“Following a road traffic accident that occurred today at Adams Arcade along Ngong Road involving a government vehicle, which resulted in the death of a pedestrian who is a foreign national, NPS is now handling the matter, and investigations have commenced,” read part of the police statement.

“We encourage anyone with information that may assist with the investigation to report to the nearest police station or through our toll-free numbers,” it added.

Videos and images of the incident shared on social media yesterday showed residents surrounding the scene to see the victim who had been covered by a shawl.

Locals who spoke to the press revealed that despite knocking down the man, the Head of State’s motorcade did not stop, despite the availability of ambulances in the presidential support team.
