Seasonal job opportunities for workers from Kenya needed in the UK as the government continues to open more jobs for Kenyans to work abroad

Seasonal job opportunities for workers from Kenya needed in the UK as the government continues to open more jobs for Kenyans to work abroad.

Diaspora Affairs Principal Secretary Roseline Njogu has revealed that 1,000 more Kenyans were being targeted for seasonal jobs in the UK with over 400 youth having already taken over some opportunities.

“In the last 6 months, over 400 Kenyan youth with qualifications in agriculture have taken up seasonal opportunities in the UK under this partnership,” Njogu revealed.

The next cohort of interested Kenyans to work on farms in the United Kingdom were encouraged to seize the opportunity.

The casual workers are selected from various institutions in Kenya through a collaboration between the United Kingdom and the Youth Enterprise Development Fund.

On Wednesday, it was revealed that a team from the State Department of Diaspora Affairs had been welcomed to Staples Vegetables in the UK  by the farm’s management and  HOPS Labour Solutions Limited officials.

“The program involves Kenyan youths working on agricultural farms in the UK under the supervision of experts, and subsequently returning home to invest in similar local projects,” Youth Fund speaks of the program.

How to apply

It should be noted that Kenyan youth can apply to work in the United Kingdom through HOPS Labour Solutions Limited.

Because this is a government programme, individuals are not allowed to apply independently but should do so through the Youth Enterprise Development Fund.

“We recruit from Kenya however this recruitment is limited and is not open to any candidate,” the company states further warning no HOPS member of staff, any representative office or partner government body will ever ask you to pay any fees.

HOPS deals with the recruitment, migration, and supply of seasonal workers to employers in the UK from across the world.

Graduates from the National Youth Service (NYS) can also apply for jobs through the Service.

Eligibility requirements

Interested applicants must have a valid passport with at least one year before expiry.

The job lasts six months and candidates must show willingness to come back after the project.

The Youth Fund and NYS while facilitating the application and placement process do not cater for passport, visa, ticket and other related logistics costs.

Only Kenyans aged between 18 and 45 are eligible to apply.
