DP Gachagua hits back at ODM Secretary General Edwin Sifuna over his remaks

Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua has slammed ODM party leaders led by Secretary General Edwin Sifuna hours after the latter claimed Mt Kenya residents were tired of the DP

Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua has slammed ODM party leaders led by Secretary General Edwin Sifuna hours after the latter claimed Mt Kenya residents were tired of the DP.

Speaking on Thursday, January 25 in Meru County, Gachagua said Mt Kenya politics was too complicated for ODM and Azimio people to understand.

Gachagua told the opposition to keep off the Mt Kenya region saying they cannot succeed in the region as they are known for demonstrations and chaos.

Gachagua maintained that Mt Kenya region is united under President William Ruto and urged ODM to instead focus on other regions where they can be heard.

“I want to tell ODM people, Mt Kenya politics is too complicated for you to understand. Even the day you tried to climb the mountain, you slipped. They had Uhuru Kenyatta and the system, and they failed,” Gachagua stated.

He added, “Mt Kenya has its owners, and right now, we are united behind President Ruto. You ODM people should go look for votes where you’ll be heard; here on the mountain, we know you are people of protests and chaos. That is something not welcomed in this area, so keep off Mt Kenya.”

Sifuna on Wednesday during an ODM recruitment rally in Kilifi said the recent supremacy battle between Kiharu MP Ndindi Nyoro and Gachagua in Mt Kenya is because the locals are tired of the Deputy President.

The Nairobi Senator went on to say the problem in Kenya Kwanza is President Ruto and he will lose the 2027 re-election bid even if he picks Nyoro or Kirinyaga Governor Anne Waiguru.

“The people of Central Kenya have told us themselves that this Gachagua bad reputation has reached them. They are now saying if they enter the 2027 general election with Gachagua, they will fail, they now want Ndindi Nyoro, and Waiguru. The problem with Kenya Kwanza is Ruto himself; if you give Gachagua or Ndindi Nyoro to Ruto, a defeat in 2027 is assured,” Sifuna stated.
