EACC summons 34 county officials over suspected graft of Sh400 million in roads and other tenders.

The Ethics and Anti-Corruption Commission has summoned 34 officials from three counties, over alleged theft, conflict of interest and misappropriation of public funds worth over Sh400 million in roads and other tenders.

The officials are required to appear at the EACC offices in Nakuru this week.

In Nakuru county, 14 officials are facing allegations of procurement fraud amounting to Sh27 million in the acquisition of sports kits and equipment.

EACC says companies owned by the very county officials were awarded tenders and received payment for poor quality supplies.

In Bomet County, 13 officials are accused of misappropriating funds amounting to Sh373 million in procuring road construction equipment.

In Baringo County, seven officers from the county executive and assembly have been summoned over the irregular creation of four extra assembly committees in a scheme to embezzle public funds through sitting allowances.

They are also being accused of embezzling funds by claiming subsistence allowance for non-existent events.
