Former Communications Authority of Kenya (CA) Director General Ezra Chiloba has been nominated for a new ambassadorial role.

In a statement released by the State House Spokesperson Hussein Mohammed on Friday, March 8, 2024, Chiloba was fronted as the Consul General of the Republic of Kenya in Los Angeles, California in the United States.

“His Excellency the President has transmitted the nominations of High Commissioners and Ambassadors and Permanent Representatives to the National Assembly for consideration, and approval by Parliament,” the statement reads in part.

On October 18, 2023, a statement to the Communications Authority announced Chiloba’s resignation, after he sent a letter addressed to the Board Chairperson, Mary Mungai

Also appointed for the ambassadorial role is Ruto’s ally from the United Democratic Alliance (UDA) Party Fred Outa, as the Ambassador for Cairo, Egypt.

Outa, who is a former Kisumu County Deputy Governor, was formally nominated for a Chief Administrative Secretary (CAS) position by President Ruto before the court declared the role unconstitutional.

“The President today caused nominations and appointments to the senior ranks of the public service for persons to serve the nation as Ambassadors, High Commissioners, and Permanent Representatives in Kenya’s Embassies/High Commissions/Missions abroad,” the statement reads.

Lieutenant General Peter Mbogo Njiru whose term in the Kenya Defence Forces (KDF) came to an end earlier today after 39 years of service, has also been nominated to head to Islamabad, Pakistan to serve as the ambassador to Kenya.

Further, Ruto has nominated Caroline Mueke for the position of Secretary-General of the East African Community. This appointment will be determined by the Summit of the Heads of State in East Africa.

“The Government of Kenya has, under Article 67 of the Treaty on Establishment of the East African Community, nominated Ms Caroline Mwende Mueke for appointment by the Summit of the Heads of State as the Secretary-General of the East African Community,” the statement added.
