A family is calling on the government to help them find their kin, a police officer who went missing for five months after serving a peace mission in Kapedo.
The cop was in Kapedo on duty, according to the family, when he was reported missing.
He was part of a peacekeeping mission deployed to eliminate the bandits who had been wreaking havoc on the region.
Prior to being dispatched on the assignment, the officer was working at Turkana’s Lodwar Police Station.
Reportedly, the officer had earlier been sick and sought transport money from his superiors to go to the hospital. The request was however declined.
His family has called upon the government to help locate their kin as other officers sent on the mission had returned home.
“We are always at the Police station asking about his whereabouts and each time the officers promise that they are looking for him,” the wife complained.

She wondered whether there was any other way to find out when her spouse was working when the incident happened.
“To date, he has never been found. I have been searching for him. I have even gone to the station but they keep telling me they are looking for him. The first month ended, then the second, the third till now it is five months,” a frustrated wife told journalists.
“If they don’t help me, where else will I take my complaint yet they were the ones with him when he was on duty. It is not like he was out handling his affairs.”
The family is left with more concerns than answers after a station officer disclosed that the search expedition may take up to seven years.
The family is left wondering if their kin died in Kapedo or if he is still alive.
An activist group in the county gave the police 14 days to find the missing officer.
