DCP welcomed the former CS to the party, saying they were honoured to have her.
Sicily served as the Water CS under former President Uhuru Kenyatta’s government.
“Welcome on board, former CS Sicily Kariuki, to the DCP Party. We are honoured to have you join the Party of the People—a movement that truly resonates with the grassroots and stands for all like-minded individuals committed to building a better future,” DCP said in a statement on X.
The party welcomed other members to the party, saying it listens to the ground.
“Your presence here signifies a shared commitment to the journey of liberating our country. Together, we’re stronger, united by our vision for a brighter future.”
She was among some CSs in the Jubilee Cabinet who resigned ahead of August 2022.
On February 9, 2022, Sicily resigned from her cabinet position to vie for a political seat in the then-forthcoming August elections.
She had shown interest in running on the Jubilee ticket, which was under the leadership of former President Uhuru.

However, Sicily suffered a major blow as Jubilee chose the former Nyandarua Governor Francis Kimemia over her after a protracted political battle.
The former CS is the latest to join the camp after Githunguri MP Gathoni Wamuchomba, who joined the party recently.
The vocal MP held talks with Gachagua at the DCP offices in Nairobi on Thursday, June 12, 2025.
She later joined Gachagua on a tour of Githunguri Constituency and other parts of Kiambu County, signalling her intention to work with him ahead of the 2027 general election.
Gachagua announced that he will officially launch his Democracy for Citizens Party on July 7, 2025 during a meeting with more than 500 grassroots mobilisers from the Maa community at his Wamunyoro residence on Monday.
He said the launch venue had been moved from Nairobi to the Maa region after the original booking was allegedly cancelled by the state.
“This DCP party is yours. I am requesting, if you agree, that the launch ceremony—which we had initially planned to hold in Nairobi—be held here among the Maa people instead. If you agree, will you do it?” Gachagua told the crowd.
