Government announces new changes after huge turnout for Qatar jobs interviews

Labour and Social Protection Cabinet Secretary Alfred Mutua has issued an update following a massive turnout for interviews for various jobs in Qatar

Labour and Social Protection Cabinet Secretary Alfred Mutua has issued an update following a massive turnout for interviews for various jobs in Qatar.

In an update on X on Saturday, October 26, the CS said positions in the hospitality sector had been filled, adding that only nurses would be interviewed on Sunday, October 27 at KICC.

At Kabete National Polytechnic, Mutua said only light vehicle drivers, rigger signalmen, construction helpers, electricians, plumbers, masons, tile layers, steel fixers, painters, welders, scaffolders, and duct men would be interviewed.

“Due to the large turnout of Kenyans for interviews, many positions have already been filled. We appreciate your patience and your efforts to take advantage of this opportunity,” Mutua said.

On Friday, October 24, Mutua announced the commencement of the interviews directing participants to dress in black and white or overall where applicable and carry the required documents which include a CV, passport-size photo, and a passport.

He stated that if an applicant does not have a passport, arrangements will be made to secure one as soon as possible if they are hired.

“Please ensure you are familiar with your industry and job duties. Only candidates for the listed job openings will be allowed entry,” the statement read in part.

Additionally, Mutua said no fee will be charged for one to be interviewed or considered, adding that requirements for medical, visa processing, air ticketing, and other travel modalities will be provided free of charge for applicants who will be hired.

The CS also warned participants from handing over their passport to anyone.
