Labour Cabinet Secretary Alfred Mutua has announced that the government will offer loans of up to Ksh 300,000 to the youth who have secured jobs abroad.
In a statement on Wednesday, February 19, Mutua said the loans will be drawn from the Youth Fund.
He noted that the loans will help youth who have secured jobs in other countries but are facing financial challenges to clear meeting pre-travel costs such as visa fees, airfare, and other necessary expenses.
“Through an initiative dubbed Kazi Majuu, the Youth Fund will provide migration loans of up to Ksh 300,000 to eligible youth who have secured jobs in the UAE and other countries but face financial challenges in meeting pre-travel costs such as visa fees, airfare, and other necessary expenses,” read the statement in part.
CS Mutua noted that the Kenya Kwanza government has secured thousands of job opportunities abroad, but many qualified candidates struggle to take up these positions due to financial constraints.

He observed that the loans will help bridge that gap, ensuring that deserving young Kenyans do not miss out on life-changing opportunities due to lack of funds.
Further CS Mutua said the Youth Fund has committed to supporting labour mobility by removing financial barriers that hinder youth from accessing jobs overseas.
According to the Labour CS, the youth fund has disbursed Ksh 94 million, benefiting 422 youth in the current financial year.
“This initiative aligns with our broader goal of empowering young people by providing them with the means to access decent and well-paying jobs globally, ultimately improving livelihoods and contributing to Kenya’s economic growth,” Mutua added.
