47-year-old headteacher sentenced to fifteen years in jail for defiling a KCPE candidate after promising the pupil good grades.
The accused headteacher, Athman Mohammed Jillo, allegedly enticed the 16-year-old pupil with the promise of a good grade in the recently concluded Kenya Certificate of Primary Education (KCPE).
“Hola Resident Magistrate Hon. Benson Kabanga sentenced him to a lengthy jail term after ruling that the prosecution had proved the case beyond any reasonable doubt,” the Office of the Director of Public Prosecutions (ODPP) said in a statement.

“The prosecution, led by Prosecution Counsel Michuki Alfred, called eight (8) witnesses who testified and established a case against the accused person.”
Presiding over the case, Hola Resident Magistrate Benson Kabanga ruled that the prosecution had proved the case beyond any reasonable doubt.
Justice Kabanga noted that by committing the offence, the headteacher neglected his duty to safeguard his students from any type of harm or abuse.
