Police deployed in Nairobi CBD and in parliament ahead of Gachagua impeachment tabling.
Nairobi’s Central Business District (CBD) was heavily policed on Tuesday morning, with all roads leading to and from Parliament severely restricted.
Police officers stationed along these routes have been screening and interrogating individuals before allowing them to pass, creating an air of heightened vigilance.
The increased security extends beyond Parliament, with officers visibly positioned at key strategic points throughout the city.
According to an officer involved in today’s deployment, the government is taking no chances, given the latest developments in the political scene.
The security measures come in the wake of growing unrest.

Last evening, youth gathered at X Space to criticize President William Ruto’s administration, warning of potential street protests if the government continues what they describe as human rights violations and governance by “iron fist.”
In a related development, supporters of activist Kebaso Morara, who was detained recently, have called for his immediate release.
Failure to comply, they say, will force them to take to the streets to confront the government.
This growing tension comes as the impeachment motion against Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua is expected to be tabled in Parliament, fueling political uncertainty and prompting authorities to boost security across the city.
